During the last months and while being drowned in population’s need to make a change that would be considered a breakthrough in the history of democracy and a transition toward better development perspectives, Morocco as whole entity ( from top to bottom and essentially already established structures, NGO,…) released a Proposal of the New Moroccan Constitution.
This Proposal has been presented to be voted by Moroccan Citizens all over the world (with all needed logistics) from 1st to 3rd of July.
Like any political occasion in the world (not necessarily a third world syndrome) the Population (excluding under aged one) usually splits on three major categories: Determined Voters, Determined Non Voters, and of course people with no clue on what’s going on!
In all cases while Determined Voters are motivated by the outcome of their contribution to the poll, Determined Non Voters are motivated by proving that the process is biased and based on non representative data.
But is it accurate to sabotage such sensitive democratic process in a Country like Morocco? ,a country that needs all the required serenity to offer a better investment area to actual and prospective investors.
What most people should know despite some negative propaganda is that the review of the constitution wasn’t performed by elite who decided to twist people claims to their benefits. The process was more public than that.
During several months NGOs, Professional Organizations, Syndical Structures, Even School Students Groups sent proposals of what they think should change. A Web site was created in order to gather suggestions and comments on the base document of the constitution etc…
In a sound strategic thinking His Majesty KING Mohammed VI presented the outcome of this consultative effort and invited Moroccans to vote in order to continue with early legislative elections and move on to the creation of the new Moroccan Government that would carry people’s Hope of Change.
In a sound strategic thinking of Moroccan concerns: economic need to more investments, national security issues, and a desperate need to be a role model developing country; a communication campaign was held simultaneously with the efforts mentioned above to incite Moroccan to avoid the status of ‘The people with no clue’ first of all, and secondly to give them the opportunity to choose their fate and not to become ‘Determined Non Voters’.
I will vote as a give back gift to my beloved country and I will be proud of the result. The result will certainly represent Morocco’s CHOICE!
